A wonderful place to buy any kind of plant you may be looking for. Staff is always super-friendly and helpful. As an elderly woman, I appreciate staff carrying my purchases to my vehicle and loading them. Every plant I have ever bought there has been healthy and thrived. They even take the time to respond to FB inquiries on stock! Highly recommend this garden center!

As a Licensed Landscape Designer and Botanist based in Birmingham, I’m selective about where I source plant material - and Porter’s Garden Center in Muscle Shoals has earned my highest recommendation! They’ve long established a serious nursery operation (i.e., three acres of plant and hardscape offerings), and it shows in the breadth and depth of what’s on hand. The staff members are genuinely knowledgeable and helpful, and I appreciate assistance that respects both design intent and real-world horticulture. Inventory, however, is where they shine the brightest: I’ve seen a seemingly boundless variety in shrubs, and a tree selection that goes beyond the basics, with options that feel “designer-grade,” not just big-box standard. It also matters to working professionals that they emphasize year-round operation and - get this! - the ability to special-order when a specific plant is needed. Phenomenal! After years of searching and purchasing across the state, this remains the best plant selection I’ve personally found in Alabama - paired with highly competitive pricing in my experience.
