About the Nursery

Native Arizona Cactus Nursery. Top products: Bare Root Ocotillo, Specimen Saguaros, Ocotillo Fencing Panels, Ramada Shade Panels. BK Cacti is a long-standing horticultural operation based in Arizona with over 40 years of experience in the salvage, cultivation, and distribution of native Sonoran Desert flora. The business specializes in the wholesale and retail of native Arizona cacti, including specimen-grade Saguaros and bare-root Ocotillo plants. Beyond plant sales, the company distinguishes itself through artisanal fabrication of architectural desert elements, specifically hand-woven Ocotillo fencing and Ramada shade panels. Their operational philosophy focuses on sustainable harvesting practices; Ocotillo canes are harvested fresh per order to ensure optimal health and regeneration success upon planting. The business serves a diverse clientele, including homeowners, commercial developers, and the mining industry, for whom they have provided extensive salvage and relocation services. BK Cacti maintains a hands-on management approach, emphasizing professional installation services and custom sizing to meet specific project requirements while promoting the preservation of regional desert aesthetics.

I purchased 6 “fresh” ocotillo plants delivered late July 2020. As expected, the leaves dropped off. I cared for them as instructed but no new leaves ever developed. Early July 2021 a windstorm blew 2 of them over and there were no roots. The plants were guaranteed to grow so I contacted BK Cacti and a few weeks later on 7/22 they came out and told me they were all dead and would be replaced. I was always the only one to follow up. 1st, their truck engine failed so they were waiting for a replacement from Wisconsin, then the rains came and they couldn’t dig up new plants, then the new engine from Wisconsin failed. On 8/21 they sent a text saying the truck was still broke and all they could work on was ramada panels, so I was surprised when I was copied on a text picture sent to another customer (see below) of a large cactus they had just finished planting. I lost faith after that. I followed up a couple times but got the same problems so, after 2-months of trying I gave up and bought new live ocotillos.

The panels they supplied for our Ramada exceeded our expectations. Well constructed and worked perfectly. Delivery, cost and communications all worked out perfectly. Thank you.
