(***Update: because the owner responded so quickly to this review, I'm changing it from one star to five stars because I believe the owner is going to address the situation satisfactorily, and I want to help businesses thrive as so few exist or succeed on the ridge since the 2018 fire and the C*vid fraud. It's hard to do business and even harder when you have employees that go rogue like this. I believe that people can change and grow. That's why I do not keep one star reviews up very long when I see sincere contrition and remorse. ***) Original Review: I wanted to bring to your attention a very upsetting experience I had today at Déjà Vu Nursery. There is a male employee—possibly named Michael—who, in my opinion, should not be in any client-facing role. He has consistently been rude, dismissive, and unhelpful on several occasions over the past year. Each time I’ve encountered him, he behaves as though helping customers is an inconvenience. He never offers assistance carrying items, avoids eye contact, and often walks away abruptly. On multiple visits, he has told me the nursery doesn’t carry what I’m looking for—yet when I’ve asked another staff member, they’ve immediately shown me plenty of available inventory. On occasions when something truly wasn’t in stock, other employees have always offered to special-order it. Today’s encounter was particularly disturbing. When I asked if he would prefer that I find someone else to help me, he suddenly snapped and shouted, “If you’re going to be rude, I’m not going to help you at all!” He continued yelling as he walked away. Several nearby customers and staff witnessed the outburst, and another employee quickly stepped in to calm the situation. His coworker, Destiny, was extremely kind and tried to explain that he had been exhausted from recent workload demands. However, his behavior toward customers is simply unacceptable. I’ve been a loyal client for roughly thirty years—ever since the business was Menden’s—and I routinely spend $200–$300 per visit. I love the nursery and the atmosphere, but this employee’s repeated hostility has made my visits uncomfortable and unpleasant. I strongly recommend that he be reassigned to non-customer-facing duties such as loading or inventory work. His demeanor is damaging to the nursery’s reputation and likely the reason for any negative service reviews. I hope you’ll take this feedback seriously, as I would truly like to continue supporting Déjà Vu Nursery—but I can’t justify returning if that individual continues to interact with customers.
