About the Nursery

Retail Garden Center Nursery. Top products: Trees, Shrubs, Roses, Vegetable starts, Houseplants. Armstrong Garden Centers is a well-established horticultural retailer operating 27 locations. Founded in 1889, the company functions as an employee-owned nursery and garden center chain catering to both residential homeowners and professional landscapers. Their core business model focuses on the retail of high-quality ornamental plants, trees, shrubs, and edible garden starts like tomatoes and peppers. A key differentiator is their 'Gardening Without Guesswork' program, which emphasizes professional horticultural guidance and educational support for customers. Beyond plant retail, Armstrong provides comprehensive landscape design services, allowing clients to receive custom garden installations. They maintain strict quality control standards, inspecting all incoming plant inventory and offering a lifetime guarantee on all trees and shrubs to ensure long-term garden success. Their operations include both physical retail stores and an integrated online storefront offering curbside pickup and local delivery of plants, garden tools, and seasonal supplies.

I enjoyed coming to Armstrong Garden Centers for years. I recently came to this location to see if they had any orchids available. Sadly, when I seen the selection offered they were dry and below a sellable standards. I picked one up in hopes of rescuing it, kindly approached the counter and asked "Do you happen to clearance or discount over bloomed orchids?" I was looked at with a dumbfounded glare as an elderly female employee leaned in and told me "We don't discount our plants, we only sell premium quality plants. And, I probably wouldn't sell this plant to you either." I asked again politely in hopes of rescuing this orchid only to be met with a silent glare, I thanked them for their time and kindly put the plant back. A few weeks later I decided to check in to see if they had a fresher inventory of orchids that were up to "premium standards". Sad to say the same orchids were still there, dry as ever and some beginning to die. Unfortunately, as a local I will probably not be visiting this store again for awhile. Lovely outdoor stock though.

I just want to give a HUGE SHOUT OUT to RACHEL REED!! Man give that girl a SUPER BONUS or send her to Hawaii lol bcz SHE HELPED ME SO MUCH!!!! I am not knowledgeable regarding flowers & plants especially with the hard clay soil. I have no clue on what plants & flowers survive my hard soil.. But Rachel educated me on proper soil prep & types of flowers that do well for my back yard needs. She helped me turn my desert waste land into God's Paradise. You guys got a real gem in Rachel & I just want you to know how much value she brings to your store. I live in Corona & could go to any nursery within 5-10 min from my house but they dont have "Rachel"!! so I drive all the way to Glendora bcz of her!!!

This was our first time here, so we spent some time just browsing and looking around—they have lots of variety. We didn’t find exactly what we were looking for at first and were honestly about to walk out. But Rachel noticed and asked if we needed help. She took the time to show us something similar, walked us through different options, and explained everything in a really informative way. Her patience and customer service completely changed our experience. Because of her, we ended up making a purchase. Really appreciate her going the extra mile!
