Armstrong Garden Centers

They don’t have akadama, but I got a nice little Japanese garden juniper to play with and made it into a pretty cascading bonsai. Just getting into practicing bonsai, so please forgive the sloppy wiring. I’ll redo these after a little break. My first attempt at doing bonsai and it’s a shohin, I suppose. Oh and I repotted it in a slightly larger pot since I was stuffing it into this tiny 4” blue one and the tilt adds required a rock under one side. I also didn’t want to take off too much rooting and kill the plant. Hope she lives!

I have been coming to Armstrong Gardens for many years now it's one of my favorite places the sales people are very helpful and knowledgeable, they have a variety of plants and other merchandise for your house and garden.

The cashier position needs to be re-prioritized by the staff. There was one cashier and she was talking to a man asking for advice on his backyard. Two customers are in line ready to pay but the cashier calls for TWO BACK UP employees to check us out while she talks to the man whos not buying anything. I waited for 5 minutes to buy when there is no line… The right move would have been the cashier asking the man to wait while she checks out the ready customers or ask another employee to help with his query.

This is one of those places I end up staying longer than I plan. I’ll go in thinking I just need one plant and somehow leave with three… plus soil I probably didn’t need yet. The staff has always been really helpful without hovering. One time I brought in a picture of a struggling plant (that I was pretty sure I already killed), and they actually took the time to explain what might be going on instead of just trying to sell me something new. I appreciated that. Prices can be a little higher than big box stores, but the plants just seem healthier overall, so I don’t mind it as much.
