We’ve purchased many trees, shrubs, and flowers here and have always had a great experience. Love the complimentary golf carts that make it easy to drive around and find the plants we’re looking for, and everyone who works here has always been very kind and helpful.

Great selection and super friendly staff. Quick easy trip.
WARNING.... also please check update I purchased six 6–7 ft Colorado blue spruce trees from James Nursery in early March. All six were planted correctly, irrigated properly, and cared for according to industry standards. Within months every single tree declined and ultimately died. When I dug up the failed trees, the root balls told the whole story: they were severely underdeveloped, poorly harvested, and never had the root mass needed to survive. Several had waterlogged, anaerobic cores and almost no feeder roots — clear signs of weak or mishandled nursery stock. Despite providing photos and documentation, the nursery refused to take any responsibility or offer any support. No warranty, no partial credit, not even an acknowledgment that the stock may have been compromised. They have totally stopped responding. I’ve been in construction and landscaping for years, and I’ve never seen this level of inconsistency or lack of accountability. I will not be purchasing from James Nursery again, and I would strongly caution others to inspect their stock carefully before buying. I ended up buying all new trees from Elizabeth tree company. My landscaper and I could instantly tell the difference in the quality of the trees. UPDATE AS OF 10 PM SAME DAY. The owner’s reply is a perfect example of why this experience has been so frustrating. He posted that response two hours after leaving me a voicemail, before I even had a chance to call him back, and then tried to frame it as if I “never contacted him.” That is simply false. I have multiple emails showing I reached out directly, and he personally forwarded me to one of his employees. For him to now pretend I didn’t communicate with him is dishonest and shows exactly how he handles problems: publicly deflect, privately disappear. After all six of my trees died, I consulted one of the most respected arborist companies in the entire state of Colorado — a firm with hundreds of 5‑star reviews and decades of experience diagnosing tree failures. Their assessment matched exactly what I found when I dug up the trees: - The root balls were severely underdeveloped for 6–7 ft spruces - Several had anaerobic, waterlogged cores - There were almost no feeder roots - The trees never rooted into the native soil - The stock was inconsistent, with some failing immediately and others declining slowly Their conclusion was clear and unanimous: These trees were not viable from the start. This was a nursery stock quality issue, not a planting or irrigation issue. The owner’s response tries to hide behind “hundreds of trees sold” and “state inspections,” but none of that changes the condition of the actual trees he sold me. Pointing to other customers doesn’t magically give my trees the root systems they never had. What’s worse is the complete lack of accountability. No warranty, no partial credit, no acknowledgment of the obvious defects — just a public attempt to shift blame onto the customer after ignoring the private communication he claims never happened. A 119‑year reputation doesn’t mean much when the product fails and the business refuses to stand behind it. I stand by every word of my review. The trees were defective.
They were great! Very responsive, respectful, and communicative. They definitely hooked me up. I highly recommend. Very personable.
Great wholesale type of place that sells to the public. Amazing selection, helpful staff and huge lot of plants, shrubs, grasses, everything
