About the Nursery

Full-service nursery and landscape. Top products: Trees, Shrubs, Ornamental plants, Landscape design materials. Wapsie Pines Lawncare & Landscaping, Inc. is a well-established landscape design, installation, and maintenance firm based in northeast Iowa, operating since 2002. While the company offers a comprehensive range of outdoor services—including irrigation system maintenance, snow removal, dog fencing, and hardscape construction (patios, fire pits, retaining walls)—they also maintain an active nursery operation. This nursery serves as a supply source for their professional landscaping projects, providing a selection of trees, shrubs, and ornamental plants tailored to the local climate. By functioning as both a service provider and a plant supplier, they cater to residential and commercial clients in Waterloo, Cedar Falls, and Waverly, focusing on comprehensive yard transformations. Their business model integrates horticultural supply with professional landscape architecture and site installation, ensuring that the plant materials installed in their custom designs are sourced and managed through their own operations.

Wapsie Pines provided and planted two new and mature trees for us. We were really satisfied with their work. Ray and Jose were professional and respectful to our property and questions. Abby at the Nursery was helpful in the nursey for our selection needs and Christy made it all come together with scheduling in the office. We were particular about the type and size we wanted, The Wapsie nursery stood up to our needs by offering a variety of matured selects to pick from. We are grateful that we get to enjoy a larger tree sooner than later and had a professional team that could get it all done in our timeline. Thanks Wapsie!

Wapsie Pines recently redid our front yard landscaping. We couldn’t be more pleased with the end result. Our landscape designer designed a plan that was what we requested/low maintenance and beautiful. Employees Bobbie and Jack primarily worked on the project on very hot and buggy days resulting in an end result that far exceeded our expectations! We would highly recommend Wapsie Pines for any of your landscaping needs!

My mother-in-law Miriam was extremely pleased with not just the plantings and work done today, but Bobbie’s initial designs as well. Bobbie was very friendly, encouraging, and accommodating when it came to implementing Miriam’s ideas and wishes. She would definitely recommend The Wapsie Pines Team to her friends!

Timila was amazing to work with when it came to designing our landscaping. She provided suggestions that enhanced our project to match our aesthetic. She was helpful when selecting our plants/shrubs/tree, especially for those who do not have a green thumb. A big thanks to Rhino (Ryan), Michael, and the entire Wapsie Pines crew to bring our landscaping to fruition. They were professional and patient with all of our questions and any concerns that arose during the process.

I will be sharing individual letters of appreciation for the primary landscapers who did such a wonderfully masterful job on my very complex stormwater management and landscaping task. This is just an overall appreciation for the great design work of Tyler Solsma, the excellent all-around leadership of Shawn Flanders, the quick study and exceptionally hard work of Tim Knock in his first big landscaping job, and the great teamwork of Caleb DeKoster as he came on toward the end, together with all the rest of the team who pitched in on the particularly labor intensive parts. My neighbors are delighted at the boost your beautiful work has brought to the curb appeal of the whole neighborhood :-) And I can now rest easily in extreme storms to know that the stormwater will stay in the ground and not in my house nor running straight off to contaminate the Middle Cedar Watershed! Everyone on the team is such a hard worker and professional in every way, with an exceptional attention to detail that creates results to be proud of! I can’t wait for Phase 2 in the spring when we make some more pollinator-friendly plantings!
