DO NOT SHOP AT THIS STORE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. Check out the Growing Place in Naperville or Platt Nursery in Addison. I took my wife here to pick out trees for her birthday today with my small children. During my visit, I found a dying tree they were going to throw out in the back lot, I asked if I could purchase it and told it was going to die. I requested if I could have it free given the condition and because I was planning on purchasing over 600 dollars of other trees. They accepted my offer and was told I could take the tree up front and pay for my other trees. At the register, they radioed to the person that told me I could have the tree and confirmed that it was included with my $600 purchase. I paid for everything, drove to the back, and loaded my truck with my items. Just before I was going to leave, one of the owners stormed into the lot and said that it the dying tree was not free and I had to give it back. I calmly explained the entire story and told her that the front desk had confirmed the purchase with the associate and that I was offered this item for free since it was being removed from the store and it was dead/dying. After explaining the situation, she demanded that I give back the dead/dying tree. It was a disgraceful and disgusting experience in front of my family. I pulled the tree out of the truck, drove to the front of the building and returned my entire purchase. I have never been treated with such disrespect in my life and will never step foot in this store or any store affiliated with these people for the rest of my life. Please do not take the risk of shopping at this store because the owner who put me and my family through this experience has no idea how to treat their customers. UPDATE: As you can see from the owner response below, there is a complete lack of accountability and disregard for the customer experience. They say there was no intention of insulting me and the family but they are the ones who forced me to return an item that was already in my possession and confirmed by their entire staff. They blame their employees when they are the owner who is responsible for the staff. The level of ignorance to the situation and the customer is beyond comprehension. As mentioned, do everything possible to avoid this place and the risk of having an experience like mine.

Hard to find this kind of excellent customer service. Many employees available to help. Loved the large selection of supplies for gardens. A unique and special place.

Spent $700 on landscaping at Wannemakers, decided to support local business and avoid big box I was willing to pay more to get professional advise and service. The sales person was great and helped me pick out appropriate plants and bushes Unfortunately the Danica bushes did not take well I left the store a message in hopes of advise, no return call I called back and finally spoke to someone who was in a hurry to get me off the phone He ended up giving me a email to send pictures I sent the email with pictures, simply asking for advise You guessed it, no reply. I guess I will save money and aggravation and stick with big box

Wish could give zero stars. Snotty non-helpful employees. Got flowers less than 24 hours and refused to return them because they looked dry(it was less than 24 hours). Acted like it was my fault because I didn't water them 2 times a day like they do in the garden shop? If I purchased them at 4 pm on a Tuesday and returned them by 2 pm on a Wednesday with no instructions that I needed to water them twice a day? The reason I returned them is that they looked bad when I got them home. These were not in healthy condition when I got them home as the response from the rude garden manager claims. Less than 24 hours and it is the customers fault? Not a good business model. Will never shop here again and wanted to warn others.
