About the Nursery

Full-service nursery and garden center. Top products: Shade and ornamental trees, Annuals and perennials, Hanging baskets, Homegrown mums and poinsettias, Shrubs and evergreens. Founded in 1960 and located in Elburn, Illinois, Countryside Flower Shop, Nursery & Garden Center is a multi-faceted horticultural business that specializes in cultivating a wide range of plant materials on-site. Their operation functions as both a retail nursery and a comprehensive garden center, offering annuals, perennials, herbs, vegetables, houseplants, shrubs, and evergreens. A core pillar of their business model is their 'homegrown' philosophy, where they produce a significant portion of their inventory locally to ensure plant hardiness and quality for the regional climate. Beyond plant sales, they provide professional landscape design and installation services, functioning as an Authorized Unilock Contractor for hardscape projects. Their facility caters to both residential customers and community organizations through seasonal plant-based fundraising programs. By integrating a traditional flower shop, a full-service nursery, and professional landscaping services, they provide a holistic resource for homeowners looking to develop and maintain their outdoor spaces.

I was so excited to see all the different varieties of Lantana. Prices were average for a nursery. Parking is plentiful. Staff was so friendly and helpful. The young lady who was my cashier seemed genuinely excited about the plants I purchased!

Amazing selection of annuals. I was shopping for unusual shade perrenials. They had several that I had not seen elsewhere. Plants are healthy and well-maintained.

Profit over Accessibility. I met my mom today at Countryside Flower Shop, Nursery and Garden Center in Elburn. We have gone there for years to buy flowers and often have Kei’anna with us. Today was my first time there this season and Kei’anna was not with. The business has placed flowers and items for sale on the blacktop where we usually parked for handicap parking, and then created two handicap spots with no room on other side to drop a lift for a wheelchair, and moved all regular parking to gravel or grass. I cannot easily push her wheelchair through grass, and even if I could, I could not reach the blacktop without pushing her through chunky gravel-which I definitely cannot do-her wheels get stuck and I risk tipping her over. Going anywhere new brings much anxiety when traveling with Kei’anna and figuring out parking. When possible, I check places out ahead of time. This is a place we have taken her multiple times in the past, so it did not occur to me the owners would put profits over accessible handicap van parking. I brought my concerns to a manager, who was not the owner. She was polite and and said she would pass the concerns along. I realize things won’t be changed. But saying nothing isn’t the answer either. I won’t shop there again. And the business will have plenty of other customers and my absence won’t matter to them. I will buy flowers from a “big box” store because I know not only can I park, but I can actually get Kei’anna out of the van and into the business. I prefer to support small businesses but time and time again, small businesses are not accessible. We go to less and less places due to the lack of safe and accessible parking. Very frustrated and disappointed.

Loved this place! The greenhouse architecture is open and welcoming, as was the staff. Great variety. Plenty of room in the aisles. We were super impressed and will be back.
