We have always had great service at Red’s, and the trees we have purchased there are flourishing. Most recently we received excellent service from Mariano and Tellez (sp?) who were friendly and efficient with our 1/2 cord firewood order - special thanks to them!

Very good quality
I give Reds Garden Center 3 stars. It was my first visit this season, and I was surprised by how many perennials they have that aren’t the right hardiness zone for northern Illinois. In other words, they have a lot of exotic perennials that will not survive or come back next year. In my opinion, that’s a bit of a waste of money and frankly defeats the purpose of purchasing a perennial. Also, Reds prices aren’t quite what I’m looking for, as I noticed many plants are overpriced and too expensive. I think it would be helpful if they lowered their prices a bit, or they might not sell as many flowers. I’m all for covering your overhead costs but with a mixture of high prices plus wrong hardiness zone plants, not worth it. I also overheard other customers saying the same thing as I was thinking. I took two stars off because of the pricing and the fact that too many exotic perennials aren’t suitable for our area. But the staff is friendly and helpful, which is great. I recommend checking out the selection, seeing other garden centers in the area, and comparing prices because there are other places around that are more affordable and competitive currently than Reds, even with a 10% off coupon. My tried, true, recommendation would be to visit multiple garden centers in the area, see what’s being offered and compare pricing! Best of luck.
Wonderful garden center! High quality plants and items. Staff is very helpful.
Nice location and great selection. I’ve been a customer for years. When purchasing fountain grass, some staff said it may not come back in our zone, but I trusted the recommendation of an employee who works specifically in that department and was told it would be fine. I also purchased the recommended amendment soil. Unfortunately, 5 of the 6 plants never came back. I understand some perennials don’t survive, but losing five out of six was disappointing. When I called, the best resolution offered was 10% off a future purchase.
