Today was my first time going to a Skillin's Greenhouse and to say that it was wonderful would be an understatement. We visited the Brunswick location on their Spring Days event. Going there I had one plant in mind. I was looking for a hydrangea that would serve as a birthday gift/remembrance plant. Our local farm and flower place (Crestholm Farm Stand in Oxford) suggested Skillin's, as they did not have hydrangeas when I asked. With a deadline approaching and flower shops just opening, I was surprised to see how early Skillin's Greenhouses had opened. Upon entering the store, everything was neat, clean, and tidy. The store offered a ton of products: seed packets, fertilizers, windchimes, pots, garden statues, and so so much more. I took a look over everything before deciding I needed some help. I asked a girl about where hydrangeas could be and she connected me with Allison. Unfortunately, their hydrangeas were not in yet. Their shipment would be in too late for my surprise. But Allison heard my story and helped me out. She was able to find me an overwintered one (Something they don't typically do). This made all the difference to me. I know that this may seem like a simple nice favor but to me it was so much more than that. My husband had just lost his 92 year old Nana who shared the same birthday as him. This would be his first birthday without her and I wanted a way to remember and honor her. Because of Allison, I felt a sense of peace that I had not since Nana's passing. While this plant will never replace the woman she was, we will now be able to have something that brings us joy and celebrates her, even though she is not with us anymore. This is the transition that we needed. The comfort that Allison gave us with her own connection really touched our hearts. It is an experience that will forever stick with us.

Skillins is a gem. The staff are friendly and helpful. The selection of pots and flowers is impressive. They had everything we needed.
