Im not very impressed with the plants I had gotten. I got there early in the day and near the end of our visit i asked for some of the beautiful Fairy Moss they had displayed with the water lettuce (first photo). Its was around $5 for a bag of it and I said that was fine. I was expecting to go to the front area where it was and collect it by hand since I had seen the same thing done with another customer. The front of store man asked a helper lady to grab a bag for me and get some fairy moss. She gets the bag and then runs off for a long time. She came back with the bag full of red and mostly brown (dead) plant matter. It looked nothing like the healthy green floaters i was expecting. I pointed that out and he said that they just needed some fertilizer to get back to green. I was really not happy with this big bag of mud so I got permission to run outside and grab some of the healthy plants. I really wish I got a seperate bag as mixing the healthy with the dead made it so hard to get them out at home. When I got home, I poured it all into a 5 gallon bucket with about a gallon of extra water. The water instantly turned a dark brown and dead plant matter was 98% of it. Even after trying to rinse off the healthy plants, they still shedded dead plants when put into the tank. I skimmed the top layer for a mix of red and green plants and left the bucket to sit to try and make it settle. The death in there didnt settle, instead it festered and stunk. I had to pour it all out, wasting a handful of healthy plants over a gallon of dead plants. My bucket stinks so bad and all I can think about is how much I wished I sent the bag back and asked for a different one. I would've been happy to spend $5 on half a cup of healthy floaters as its seriously quality over quantity. I didnt need a pound of dead floaters to make the money worth it. The people here are great, but I hope they keep in mind that no one wants to buy dead plants when theres healthy ones on display. This felt like getting moldy leftovers from a restaurant. I do want to come back someday and I hope my next experience is better
Drove in to the parking lot after driving an hour to get there. No one else but me. An employee outside working never gave me the time of day or asked if I needed help in any way. I’ve owned my own retail business for 30 years and never would allow an employee not to greet or help a customer. Got in the car and drove an hour back home. Won’t go back.
I can't say enough good things about Green Thumb Water Garden Center! When I decided to create a container pond last spring, I did a lot of online research, but I honestly learned far more from the incredible staff here than I did from all the articles and videos I found online. They were genuinely interested in what I was trying to create and took the time to answer my questions, explain options, and teach me exactly what I needed to know to bring my little container pond to life. Their knowledge, patience, and enthusiasm made the whole process feel exciting instead of overwhelming. They even helped me find great deals on the supplies I needed. It is such a cool and unique place! I purchased fish, several plants (including a beautiful Wanvisa water lily), and lots of supplies. Their selection is just as impressive as their knowledge and customer service. It is so refreshing to find a locally owned business where the staff truly care about helping customers succeed. Thanks to their guidance, my pond has been thriving, and I have been a loyal customer ever since. I highly recommend them to anyone interested in ponds, water plants, creating a beautiful outdoor space, or even anyone who appreciates beautiful water gardens and creative outdoor spaces that feel like a hidden garden full of inspiration.
