Bought tomato plants 5/15/26. They were very healthy better boys at a good price. Passed on the chickens. A refreshing alternative to the big-box stores.

The staff was super nice to me and very enthusiastic about lending me advice as a brand new gardener. I wish they were open on Saturdays… their store is the largest piece of real estate on the strip and my visitors were SO excited when they saw the old, inviting shop… only for it to be closed all weekend + Mondays, which is typically the only day bank holidays fall on. So, unless I use PTO, I can never actually shop here unless I’m off work already. I think if they opened at least for half the day on Saturdays, it would bring so much more charm to the strip - especially if you purchase plants and seedlings at the next door farmers market! It’s a real bummer for most of us who have to work Mon-Fri, 8-5, but Im happy they are successful nonetheless.

Renfrow’s is my FAVORITE! Staff is so incredibly knowledgeable about gardening and all of the homestead stuff. Their seed section is the best I’ve seen- non-GMO only. Lots of information about growing. Every tool you’ll ever need and the sweet bay chicks are so cute!

Renfrow’s is an absolute gem in Matthews! Every time I visit, I leave with exactly what I need for both my home and business. It’s a true, family-owned operation that genuinely cares about its customers. The “entire” staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and always willing to go the extra mile to help. Shopping here feels like supporting neighbors, and that’s what makes this place so special!

Fabulous old style hardware store in the heart of Matthews. They have everything except big power tools. I can buy four or ten screws, vegetable plants, flowers, fruit trees, a hammer, hand hoe, keys, local honey and so much more!
