About the Nursery

Retail Garden Center Nursery. Top products: annuals, pansies, cold-weather vegetables, hanging baskets, organic fertilizers. The Garden Market, located in historic Barnegat, New Jersey, is a retail garden center established in 2018 under the ownership of Frank and Claudia Ernest. Situated on a property that borders the Barnegat watershed, the business serves as a local hub for horticultural supplies and seasonal planting needs. The nursery specializes in a variety of plant materials, including annuals, cold-weather vegetables, and groundcovers, as well as fruits like strawberries and blueberries suitable for containers or hanging baskets. In addition to plant offerings, they act as a supplier for Espoma organic gardening products, carrying items such as Holly-tone and Plant-tone. The business focuses on supporting local homeowners in seasonal garden development, emphasizing sustainable planting practices and providing professional guidance on the appropriate timing for planting to ensure plant health against temperature fluctuations. Their operations cater to the local community, promoting home gardening and outdoor cultivation as a central mission.

Will not support a business that does not support their customers in times of need. Do better.

Going out of your way to mock someone for having a bad experience is unprofessional and bitchy as hell

Very unprofessional. Asked for assistance with a rose bush that was purchased and died IMMEDIATELY after bringing it home. Was asked to dig completely up for a partial refund when all we asked for was some kind of discounted plant food that will help facilitate growth because the plant sold to us was clearly unhealthy. Instead of dealing with us professionally, my wife was instead embarrassed on social media because obviously we run businesses as if we are teenagers now. Benefit of the doubt was always given and we gladly would have continued using the Garden Market for our garden needs, but after being embarrassed like this by what can only be described as a bully, they will never get another dime. If you cannot handle criticism, don’t own a business. Full stop.

Used to be my favorite garden center. I bought my Christmas tree here every year and have been a loyal customer for years, but unfortunately the quality, prices, and customer service have gone downhill. I recently spent nearly $100 on a climbing rose that began declining almost immediately after planting. I'm an experienced gardener with a thriving yard full of roses, hydrangeas, vegetables, and herbs, so I know how to care for plants. Despite trying everything to save including purchasing things like neem oil and fertilizer, the plant continued to deteriorate. When I reached out for advice, communication was slow and difficult. After multiple unanswered calls and follow ups, I was finally told in an unkind manner that I could dig up and return the plant for only a partial refund. For a plant at that price point, I expected much better support and customer service. Very disappointing experience. Sadly, after years of shopping here, I won't be returning. Reynolds is at least worth the price tag and they’re much nicer!

Just bought a beautiful climbing rose today. The woman who helped me was so knowledgeable and friendly. They had me in and out so quickly. Pricing was in line with other markets. I’ll definitely be back!
