We spent 2 1/2hrs in the nursery picking out 8 trees, tagging, and paying for them. We paid for delivery and installation. Two 70 year old men that could barely lift the trees showed up to do installation. At $120/hr, I want someone that can actually do the job. This wasnt the case. ($120/hr starts when they leave their port too!)They were late, took several breaks, left cigarettes in my yard, and struggled with physical labor. Also, all but one of the trees were NOT trees that we tagged. And one of them was dead. They replaced it with another dead tree that had to be replaced again. Then tried to say it was us. No. The tree was dead before even planting. Their dump truck broke as it was completely lifted in the air. My husband had to jump start it for them and help them. They were supposed to dig holes for the trees twice the width of the trees. That didnt happen. And with one of the trees they tried to only plant half the root ball. I said no. And the guy seemed pissed. They didnt install tree stakes and drip that we paid for. After complaining they had to come back out and do it. All the wrong trees were NOT made right. 2 of our plum trees were completely different sizes. We are talking half the tree size for difference. The owner said if we dont like it we should cut the other tree in half. We paid the same price for BOTH trees! If I wanted tiny trees I would have gone to Home Depot. The other trees were much smaller than the ones we purchased too. We documented everything and took pictures. We kept getting the run around. This went on for a few months. The owner Paul is grumpy, pompous and has very poor customer service. All they took off was one hour of labor after SO many discrepancies. There is so much more, but you get the gist of it. I would NEVER recommend Rail City to anyone. Id give them zero stars if I could. If you are looking for a great Nursery, go to Moana. They were friendly and nice. And they were much better to deal with. They will be getting our business going forward. Do better Rail City!

The owner, Pawl, is so unpleasant. It may be a beautiful little garden center, but after interacting with him at my most recent visit I really don't want to support him anymore. He wasn't only snarky to me, but he was also rude to my 8 yo daughter. He wouldn't let her feed the fish because they needed to unload stuff, but in reality, he just didn't want to be friendly. Then at the checkout I asked if they had tomato cages and with a snarky tone he told me, "Yeah, they're out by the tomatoes!" I'm currently 8 months pregnant and that behavior simply isn't acceptable customer service for my standard. If I were in his shoes I would've responded with something more like, "Yes. Let me go grab you some. How many do you need?" He obviously doesn't care to keep return customers coming back, because I can easily go get tomato cages from Lowe's, Home Depot or Moana Nursery (where I know the owners would recognize me as a return customer and be kind if I interacted with them).

Very pretty plants but the worst pest problem ive seen worse than big box stores and I spent way more on these plants than anywhere else, ive gotten atleast 5 plants from here in the span of a few years and every single one has pests ranging from spidermites to aphids. Lady at counter also made super weird remarks about me wearing lowrise jeans saying they look like they are going to "fall off" I explained to her that I had a belt on and wore this type of pants for my belly button piercing. Super weird. Edit: I also found mealy bugs on a plant I just got that I had seen and wanted for months which means it was in the same spot for awhileeee and all the plants in their greenhouse have mealy bugs toošŸ˜. Thanks for the apology, I love coming here to see the plants and fish but I do hope yall are able to get the pest under control because at a nursery with higher prices I do and should expect healthier plants than home depot or lowes plants.
