They have great plants and good prices. Highly recommend
Such a beautiful and wide variety of plants, accessories and decorations. Plants were organized and sections of the store had nice large hanging signs. The employees were all helpful and nice. It's a bit of a drive but totally worth it. I would love to go back just to see everything more because we arrived shortly before they closed.
Horrible drivers
A coworker who lives just down the road in Auburn invited us out on a Tuesday afternoon, and I'm grateful she did. Before you even step inside, a serene koi pond greets you at the entrance — clear water, lily pads, a small cascade waterfall, and orange fish drifting lazily beneath the surface. It's an intentional welcome, and it works. My wife, curious about how they keep it so pristine, asked one of the staff. The answer was refreshingly simple: a maintenance person comes in occasionally, but the pond is largely self-sustaining. When it's built right — the right balance of plants, gravel, bacteria, and fish — nature does the work. It was a small but telling detail about how this place operates. Through those automatic double doors, the greenhouse opens up like a living painting — explosive color in every direction, blooms competing for your attention, and the kind of sensory richness that slows your pace without you even thinking about it. A tiered orchid display in galvanized buckets drew our eyes immediately. The dahlias captivated my coworker, who has been nurturing hers under a bathroom window, coaxing them with steam and light from hot showers — and they're thriving. A five-generation family operation dating back to 1903, Dickman Farms has earned the quiet confidence it carries. The selection is vast, the staff is warm, and the environment does something to you — it slows you down in the best possible way. If you're anywhere in Central New York or the Finger Lakes and haven't made this a regular stop, you're missing something genuinely worth your time.
