About the Nursery

Ornamental and vegetable greenhouse. Top products: unusual vegetable varieties, ornamental garden plants, sweet corn, seasonal produce. Bench Farms, located in Northwest Ohio, operates a dual-model agricultural business consisting of a seasonal greenhouse and a roadside produce stand. The greenhouse, which opens in early April, specializes in a diverse and eclectic selection of plants, including unusual varieties aimed at plant enthusiasts and collectors. They focus on providing a unique horticultural experience that sets them apart from typical retail centers. Complementing their plant nursery operations, the business maintains a roadside stand that begins operation in mid-July, offering fresh produce including their signature sweet corn and a variety of seasonal fruits and vegetables. The farm is a family-owned operation led by David and Cindy Bench, serving as both a destination for home gardeners looking for specialty plant stock and a local supplier of fresh, field-grown produce to the surrounding community.

I found this gem about 5 years ago and drive there a few times a year from Columbus. They really know how to pack a huge variety of plants into their space. Friendly folks, amazing selection of annuals, perfect perennials, the coolest cacti & succulent room, plenty of houseplants, and fantastic produce. And, they’re affordable!
