Beautiful plants, great people. Definitely worth the visit here
I’m still reeling with excitement from my visit to Alderbrook gardens several days ago. I’ve quite exhausted my husband with constant exclamations of “oh, and they had this,” and “it was so inexpensive!” and so forth. They have no advertising or signage up and when I arrived I thought maybe they were wholesale only. But it’s hard to deter me from plants so I marched on in, and the lovely woman who greeted me was friendly and helpful as could be, confirming they were open to the public and handing off a box to fill with treasures. They also have handy wagons available. The nursery is very large, and every time I thought I’d seen everything the next corner would reveal another greenhouse. I quickly filled a box with herbs of every sort, then another with healthy perennials, strawberries, and even a mix of daffodils and narcissus. Oh, and don’t forget they have houseplants! I got so much good stuff, but a few favorite finds were peonies, bleeding hearts, astilbe, purple basil, salad burnet, lemon verbena, Labrador violets, eucalyptus, ferns, and lantana. They are cash or check only, so come prepared. It’s worth going a little (or a lot!) out of your way if you usually only utilize card payments. The prices are eminently reasonable, and they even offer discounts on flats. Oh, and they are well known for their fabulous hanging baskets!
Everyone there is great. Very helpful and knowledgeable. Best prices around and beautiful flowers.
