Founded in 1979, Woodlanders is a specialty mail-order nursery dedicated to the discovery, cultivation, and distribution of rare and uncommon botanical varieties. Operating as a propagator rather than a reseller, Woodlanders maintains a living collection of over 1,100 species, ranging from canopy trees and conifers to ferns, grasses, and native Southeastern U.S. flora. The nursery emphasizes environmental stewardship and horticultural expertise, focusing on plants that are scientifically interesting, ecologically significant, and uniquely suited for dedicated gardeners and plant collectors. Their operations include both wholesale and direct-to-consumer retail, supported by decades of experience in specialized plant shipping to ensure the integrity of specimens in transit. By prioritizing nursery-grown stock over outsourced inventory, they provide customers with plants of known origin and quality. Their catalog highlights include medicinal and edible varieties, drought-tolerant species, and obscure perennials, reflecting a deep commitment to preserving botanical diversity and promoting rare plant cultivation in private landscapes across the United States.

I really like woodlanders. I live in Aiken so I can pick them up personally. They are one of the few places in Aiken to get reasonably priced native plants. My only complaint is that they're often sold out of what I want.

Fantastic customer service. Fiona was extremely understanding after shipping dates got mixed up. My yuzu tree is now safely potted and I expect it to grow nicely this summer. I will be looking at Woodlanders the next time I want to order more plants! Thank you!

Loved the open house! Lots of native, hard to find plants. Staff was helpful and informative. Looking forward to the next sale!

Wow! First time ordering I chose three of a camellia cultivar that is extremely difficult to find. The plants I received are extraordinary! Shipped at the right level of priority, well-packed and vigorous, budding specimens. I'm very happy with them.

Not sure I have the proper words to convey how I feel about this place. Have been in contact with the owner for a little over a month, she never fails to return a call or email, even when the benefit has only been for me, the customer. The selection and products they have are top notch, only out shown by the knowledge they have on what they have and how to tend to it. I bought roughly 15 plants from them and they've been the best in my collection by far. If you are looking for an awesome selection of native plants, and people that know what they are talking about, this is definetly the place for you. Thank you Fiona and Meghan!
