We do not stock that variety of arborvitae.  If you are looking for a yellow evergreen, we do have a few other varieties, including Golden Mop cypress.  Let us know if you have any other questions!

Hi Linda, we recommend cutting them back to about 10-12" tall in mid-late November. You can mulch with pine needles, mulch or leaf litter and either use chicken wire to hold the covering in and tight to the rose or a styrofoam rose cone.

Hi Greg, unfortunately most sour gum trees are not hardy in South Dakota. They certainly are a beautiful tree, however!  We do carry Black Tupelo (straight Nyssa sylvatica) but are sold out for the season. If you are looking for something with similar attributes, we recommend Ginkgo or Majestic Skies oak.

Our evergreen has brown spots, needles missing, and found 2 bugs on it. I think, by looking/comparing pictures, they are Japanese beetles. What do I do to treat? (Also, I don't have messenger for a response)

Hi Kathy! There are several different options for treatment, depending on whether or not it is a Japanese beetle issue or several issues happening at once. The best thing to do would be to bring in a sample of your evergreen needles and some photos, so that we can diagnose the issue(s) and determine the best course of action for your tree. Thank you!

We bought a cardinal plant from you last late spring and we are wondering when to trim it and how far do we trim it?

Hi Robert, thank you for supporting our local business! The cardinal flower can be trimmed in the fall after a few hard freezes. In mild years such as this one, that is late October/early November. Cut the plant down to about 4" tall and give it a good drink going into ground freeze up. Let us know if you have any other questions!

Hello.

A friend gave me a large Boston fern she had used outdoors on her deck.  Is there an insecticide I should use to kill any bugs before bringing into the sun porch inside my home? if so, how should I proceed?

Hi Sharon, it is best to use both a systemic insecticide (granular form) and make a few applications of Triple Action prior to bringing plants indoors for winter. Triple Action handles fungus, insect and mite issues and is also organic. We have had such a mild fall this year that it is not too late to do either of these steps.
