About the Nursery

Curated Horticultural Subscription Service. Top products: Dahlias, Ranunculus, Peonies, Tulips, Cut Flower Bulbs and Tubers. Halden Garden operates as a curated horticultural subscription service focused on residential cut flower gardening. Rather than operating as a traditional walk-in nursery, the business functions as a specialized supply network, partnering with professional growers, plantsmen, and farmers across the United States to source high-quality plant material for home gardeners. Their core offering is a monthly subscription box that delivers climate-appropriate, seasonal plant material—including bulbs, tubers, corms, rhizomes, and small perennial or annual starts—tailored to the customer's specific Koppen climate classification. The business targets home gardeners who desire a cut flower garden but lack the expertise or time to plan and source unique, high-performing varieties independently. In addition to the physical plant delivery, Halden provides an educational platform, offering digital guidance on planting, maintenance, soil management, and floral arranging.

Not the best experience on more than one occasion. I really like the idea of supporting smaller businesses and I am understanding that things can go awry at times. So, even after I received rotten and shriveled dahlia tubers the first time I ordered, they did respond quickly to replace them. I ordered the following year during a promotion and my order didn’t ship for almost 6 weeks and that was the end of May so it was not a winter order that would wait until spring to ship. Customer service was lacking on this instance. With that said, I can’t recommend them. They have beautiful branding but I think their launching is a bit premature and they may have bitten off more than they can chew. Best of luck to them, though.

I purchased a variety of tubers from Halden Gardens two months ago and began presprouting tubers right away. Two of the varieties were damaged during shipping and when I reached out via email Mitchell responded quickly and rectified the situation! The rest of my tubers (which included Sweet Nathalie, Cornel Bronze, Burlesca, etc.) have been doing amazing! Some even have multiple eyes since they are shipped in clumps which means I can divide and get multiple Dahlia plants. One thing that could be improved on is adding a bit more cushion when shipping so the tuber's necks aren't damaged. But they were happy to help with any problems or questions I had so I'm very happy with their products and service!

While I have enjoyed the anemone and rannunculus corms I received in the fall, the blue and white anemones I ordered were red, the pink anemones I ordered were rannunculus which ended up being yellow. While yhe product is nice, it is too expensive to not get what you ordered.

The quality of the products are amazing, I have ordered Dahlia tubers from them and they are amazing. My only experience had been from a different company and I received moldy tubers that were unusable upon delivery and I was heartbroken, until I found Halden Garden. In addition, the customer service has been out of this world, they respond super quickly and they are more then willing to rectify any issue and answer any questions. I cannot wait to order more seeds and other products in the future.

This supplier looks great on paper but communication and customer support leaves something to be desired. When a customer is charged for something and that is out of stock (honest mistake) Halden you should the buyer know rather than simply hoping that they do not notice while keeping funds (dishonest business practice.) Keeping my fingers crossed that a refund will actually be issued so that I do not have to dispute the charges on my card for items that were never delivered.
