About the Nursery

Retail plant and workshop center. Top products: Houseplants, Bonsai trees, Terrarium kits, Pottery and planters. PlantHouse operates as a hybrid retail garden center and experiential workshop destination, primarily focusing on houseplants, bonsai, and decorative containers. Unlike traditional agricultural nurseries, the business is structured as an interactive lifestyle brand that caters to hobbyists and social groups. Their core business model combines the sale of ornamental indoor plants with in-store DIY experiences, such as guided terrarium building and bonsai workshops. PlantHouse targets urban dwellers, families, and individuals looking for social, plant-based activities. They offer a 'Plant Club' membership to provide customers with access to rare plant varieties and ongoing discounts. Additionally, the business provides value-added services such as complimentary professional potting for customers who purchase plants and containers in-store. While they offer some apparel, their primary operational focus remains on providing a curated selection of interior greenery and facilitating community engagement through scheduled horticultural workshops and events.

Plants and customer service weren’t impressive. I’d be better off going to Home Depot for both. Was the only one in the store for more than ten minutes and was never greeted. Two employees were standing at the registers and didn’t bother to say anything or acknowledge customers coming in. Some of the pots are cute but they’re nothing special and look cheap imo. Expectations were for it to be similar to Plant Bar. It’s not.

Fun place with great plant gifts and workshops and friendly, patient, knowledgeable staff. Street parking is easy to find on weekends. Just wish the bonsai workshop gave us ceramic planters, instead of plastic. The kokodema workshop was fun too. Very relaxing activity for most ages. They offer drinks and chips for sale. Beautiful, clean store. Open stores in DC and Rockville too please!

So friendly and knowledgeable. I’ve decided not to repot any of my plants anymore and just come here instead. If anything is wrong with your plant bring it here and they will tell you everything you need to know.

I love the store and service is always friendly, warm and professional. However, I was very disappointed with the bonsai workshop. There was zero preparation and knowledge, materials were mediocre quality, and the whole experience was a big joke. At the beginning of the workshop, a very nice and lovely lady stood at the front of the class and "explained" very much what the card in our material bag said, the whole "explanation" didn't last more than five minutes. After that, we were left to prune and wire our poor tree to our heart's content. Zero depth, zero technique, zero orientation, nothing worth what the workshop cost. Most of us did not stay the whole hour, there was simply no point. Not falling for it ever again.
