About the Nursery

Full-Service Pacific Northwest Nursery. Top products: Large trees, Native plants, Shrubs, Houseplants, Seasonal starts. Bainbridge Gardens is a family-owned, six-acre garden center and nursery located on a historic site on Bainbridge Island, Washington. The nursery serves local homeowners and regional gardeners by providing a diverse selection of plant material specifically suited to the Pacific Northwest climate. Their inventory includes large specimen trees, native plant species, ornamental shrubs, bonsai, and a significant collection of indoor houseplants. Beyond retail nursery sales, the business emphasizes horticultural education, hosting classes on topics such as edible gardening, fruit and nut cultivation, and pollinator-friendly landscape practices. They also operate as a comprehensive resource for integrated pest management, stocking various beneficial insects—such as ladybugs, predatory mites, and nematodes—to support organic garden health. The property features extensive display gardens, an on-site gift shop, and seasonal vegetable starts, aiming to bridge the gap between historical agricultural practices on the island and modern home gardening needs.

Axe is great! My only advice to Bainbridge Gardens as they start something called the “clearance cam” - this would be a subsection of their social media page and would feature a daily update of their clearance table. Instinctively, you would want to feature only the most beautiful plants and scenic pictures on your website or social media. But honestly, plants on sale can be a huge trip driver that get people to buy a lot more. No one has the time to swing in every day and check out what you have. It’s a fun way to engage with the community also. It really emphasizes how much you care about saving plants. This idea is free. Please use it! I might even post about it as a suggestion on social media myself.
