I took the Bee101 class Nov 8 & 9. The class itself is excellent. It is very detailed. Day 1 is the bulk of the academic portion. You will need a pencil & paper. There is a quiz day 2 where they give out beekeeping supplies as prizes. Day 2 starts with pests / pest control, then lighting your smoker, followed by going into the hives and identifying capped honey, nectar, bee bread, and different kinds of brood. You will be holding one of every frame, including thousands of honey bees. The bees are very calm and docile, so there's nothing to be afraid of. Make sure you wear very loose, light colored clothes day 2. It gets hot in the bee yard as you are in direct sun. The second half of the day you build your beehive and frames. Overall, an exceptional educational experience. Well worth the money.
I just completed a two day beekeeping class with Tim and Astrid and I learned so much. If you want to learn about bees or become a beekeeper this class is a must. Everything is well planned out and organized. They even provided a delicious lunch both days. I truly enjoyed my time here and encourage you to sign up. Thank you Tim and Astrid!
You don’t just get a day of Beekeeping 101, Astrid and Tim are there for your questions and issues long after. You also have the ability to increase your knowledge and skills with the many other bee educational classes they have to offer. I highly recommend Greenview Aquaponics.
Great Experience :) Beekeeping is something I have always been interested in learning about. Tim and Astrid are both extremely knowledgeable and passionate about all things bees :)
