Went to Briar Hill farm and purchased a few products and noticed the Mohawk Mountain Mushrooms stand set up there with the very passionate owner/operator Dan. He was giving an informative little talk about the basics of some of his varieties of mushrooms that he cultivates for commercial use. Dan seemed excited to share how different types of mushrooms responded to the surrounding cold climate of the Northwestern area of CT and informed us about a specific strain of Cold weather shiitake that can grow mycelium and push out full mushrooms in as cold of temps as 38 degrees. Unfortunately didn’t purchase any shrooms from Dan but we’ll be back to discuss mycology at the very least. Dan is one very fungi!
