So disappointed in the CSA. This week Fat Moon advertised a pop up sale of "extra" mushrooms in an assortment of interesting varieties, but only Lion's Mane showed up in my crop share allotment! They have gorgeous wonderful varieties and you can buy them at various markets....but more than 80 percent of my allotment has been Lion's Mane with shitakes being the other 20. Based on my experience I recommend buying the product you can see. I have NOT seen variety in my CSA, even when they were advertising "extra" mushrooms in many more varieties. So very disappointed! (Edit.) After posting this I did receive some interaction with the owner who explained "we try to give one variety at a time so there is enough to make a meal". This had not been made clear in advertising and I found it a bit puzzling since the portions they package for retail sale clearly are far less in volume...maybe 6oz in some cases. She did however seem very interested in making things right. I did get some variety after our interaction, and usually their product is superior to what you can get anywhere else. One installment had a clear package of dried and shriveled mushrooms that had to have been leftover from retail sales the week before, and only a few times did I receive mushrooms that equalled the quality they were simultaneously displaying at local farm stands in clamshell packaging. All in all I think their CSA needs additional consistency and better clarifications/customer communications...it wasn't until I got the owner's attention that there was any real communication at all. I love their mushrooms. By all means buy them when you can make your own choices... It is hard to beat their product, but don't expect the CSA to reflect the same quality they invest in retail sales where you have a choice what you buy.

Great quality. The ten lb Lion's Mane fruiting block we received from Fat Moon is top-notch. We started the fruiting process on April 13th, and harvested 1lb 2.2 ounces from the first flush on April 30. Fat Moon is one of three companies that we ordered a LM fruiting block from, and the process, quality, and communication have been stellar. I would say that the instructions, and communication from Fat Moon top them all so far. We're looking forward to the 2nd flush. Oh what fun!

Fantastic CSA. We are moving toward a plant based diet and signed up for the Fat Moon CSA. Picking up my shrooms is one of the highlights of my week. So far we have had lion's mane, multiple types of oysters and shiitakes. There is no way I could have found these types of mushrooms in this quantity and quality at this price at any grocery store.
