Editing review and lowering to two stars. Months have passed and after bringing everything in for the winter I am dealing with an extreme mealy bug infestation. I have over 50 plants inside for the winter that were 100% pest free before we purchased the Monstera Albo that now are affected. We treated the Albo for MONTHS, and still this is the outcome. It was a waste of $200 dollars because I have spent well over that on different pest control and my plant collection. I have many rare plants now in distress and some that have died. I have been a long time customer and I always recommended Matkins. I am from Bentonville and live in the neighborhood. I have bought MANY amazing plants from them. Some now that are also at risk due to the mealy bugs. It breaks my heart but I don’t think there is any coming back from this. We were knowingly sold a $200 Monstera infested with mealy bugs, that have now caused a domino effect in a once pest free home. I say knowingly since we did bring it up months ago and they claimed to be “aware” with no remorse. Read below. Again as a local and long time supporter this has ruined their reputation for me and there is no going back. I’ve spent hundreds of dollars here…..it breaks my heart. Do better Matkins. I have never been one to say “I will never go back” but after this Winter I don’t think I can. Warning others to please thoroughly check your plants before leaving. You do not want to be where I am now. I want to start by saying, I have been coming to Matkin's for years. I have been able to add some unique and beautiful plants to my collection. I still plan on visiting and purchasing plants with CAREFUL inspection for as long as I can. I wish this was a 5 star review and a little over a month ago, it would have been. Last month I was able to get a dream plant of mine (not going to be specific) that cost $200. The price was not the issue, when the plant came home it was absolutely covered in mealy bugs. My partner spent hours treating this plant. We are still treating it to be safe a month later. I believe any plant brought home from a greenhouse should be pest-free, but especially a plant at that price point. I will say as of a few days ago we noticed they were still selling these plants, same price, still infested with mealy bugs. We made a comment about it and it was met with disinterest, they knew and were "treating them". So those plants are sitting out, infested with mealy bugs, with many other plants that were not, but likely could be soon. We chose not to try and get our money back, or complain because we have the means and knowledge to eradicate the problem, and hoped it was just an overlooked mistake. We still loved the plant. Instead we just wanted to let the owners be aware of the issue. Again this didn't seem to surprise or bother them much. Coming from a long time customer that genuinely cares and has spent hundreds of dollars over the years in support this was very disheartening and disappointing. A mistake is one thing, but knowingly selling infested plants is another. The right thing to do would to be to remove these plants from the floor until they are properly treated. Leaving this review genuinely upsets me, because I do not want to harm a local business that I care about, but trust is important. And this is an issue that others need to be aware of. I will continue to visit Matkins and support them, just with a lot more caution.

Truly a hidden gem! I love coming here and it is my go to for plants that are healthy and amazingly priced! The owner is so friendly and always has recommendations and advice. On your way out there’s a greenhouse kitty that likes to look at your finds and take naps on the checkout counter and who doesn’t love that!
