About the Nursery

Native California Plant Nursery. Top products: California native trees, Shrubs, Perennials, Grasses, Vines, Ferns. Native Here Nursery is a specialized horticultural operation located in Tilden Park, dedicated to the cultivation and distribution of plants native to Alameda and Contra Costa counties in California. The nursery serves local homeowners, gardeners, and restorationists by providing a diverse inventory of site-specific flora, including trees, shrubs, annuals, perennials, grasses, vines, ferns, and bulbs. Operating on a Saturday-only schedule, the facility offers both online ordering for local pickup and an in-person shopping experience designed to educate visitors on the ecological benefits of native gardening. Their growing practices prioritize species suited to the local climate, such as bush monkeyflower and California fuchsia, emphasizing the importance of native plant usage for habitat restoration and water-wise landscaping. Through a combination of nursery production and active engagement with restoration projects, Native Here Nursery supports the conservation of East Bay biodiversity by ensuring that appropriate, locally-sourced plant materials are available for public and professional use.

Stop by when visiting Tilden or seeing the views from Grizzly Peak. Friendly knowledgeable staff, helpful signs on plants, healthy looking plants. Found the best crop of 1 gallon Dutchman pipevines

Fantastic place to get beautiful plants at great prices! The gardeners are friendly and knowledgeable. Nursery is laid out according to where in the Bay the plant is from, so I could easily find plants suited to my garden. Laid back, non profit, and a lot of fun to walk around (since there is a load of info posted about every plant) - doesn’t get better than that!

Love this place! Locally sourced plants for the native plant lover. Wide selection with good stock even in January. Run by kind and helpful volunteers. Their online inventory was up to date. The only trick is they have narrow opening hours.
