About the Nursery

Botanical garden and nursery. Top products: ornamental plants, rare species, botanical gifts, native plant varieties. The University of California Botanical Garden is a 34-acre living museum and research facility located in Berkeley, California. Founded as an academic and conservation-focused institution, it maintains a diverse collection of over 10,000 distinct plant taxa sourced from environments ranging from the redwood groves of California to the cloud forests of Central America and the deserts of Southern Africa. While its primary mission is rooted in scientific research, education, and the conservation of rare and endangered species, the institution operates a public-facing plant nursery and garden shop. The nursery offers visitors the opportunity to purchase a curated selection of botanical specimens, often reflecting the unique and diverse flora found within the garden's broader collections. It serves as a resource for plant enthusiasts, students, and home gardeners, providing access to specialized plant varieties that are not commonly available in standard commercial retail centers.

Real USA Feel, 100%! The place is amazing and the university indeed made great efforts to have and maintain the species of plants and trees in there and also the garden, and it is highly organized just like a library. No annoying irrelevant people in there during the visit (of course, except on the far streets going/exiting the place/area). Highly recommended to visit the place, please plan and go there if you can! Compared to SF Botanical, this place has so many species... And you really need to do a semi-hiking activity because it's too big.

Incredible place. Plan on a long visit and not being able to see everything in one visit. We will for sure be back!

Appeared a bit disheveled. Grounds maintenance was not up to expectations. Rose garden is in most need of attention. Redwood stand located separately and available for weddings and such in best condition. I do recommend to visit and plan to return.
