Subtropica Nurseries LLC, based in Fallbrook, California, is a specialized horticultural nursery focused on the production of high-quality subtropical trees, with a primary emphasis on a diverse range of avocado varieties and clonal rootstocks. The nursery utilizes modern agricultural technology and industry research to propagate trees specifically engineered for resilience against common challenges such as root rot and high soil or water salinity. Their inventory includes both standard grafts and advanced clonal selections designed to thrive in various California climates. While the company maintains a focus on commercial-grade tree health and viability, they also serve the local community by providing trees to residential customers through a partnership with Eli’s Farms Stand. The operation supports both small-scale enthusiasts and large-scale commercial growers, offering expertise in tree selection and planting advice to ensure successful establishment. With a commitment to innovation in grafting and rootstock technology, they are positioned as a key supplier for subtropical orchard development in the region.

The Best nursery I have ever known. Eli knows his trade and is very patient and helpful. Subtropica is the only nursery that goes above and beyond to deliver what a backyard grower like me is looking for. I came home with a Gem avocado tree on Miriam rootstock. It’s so pretty and healthy. And already placed an order for some other varieties (not ready until spring). While I’m waiting for my trees to bear fruits, Eli’s farm stand can supply me in the meantime. I bought over 8lbs of Reed and Gem avocados along with other fresh fruits and sourdough bread from his farm stand. So delicious! Thank you for everything, Eli🥑🍓🌽🥚🥖Everyone there is also friendly. They seem happy with what they do.

Eli's Farm Stand has moved! Search for it in Google maps. Corner of W Dougherty Lane and Shady Lane. He has lots of avocado trees down below the farm stand ready for sale to the public (just ask someone working the farm stand). Grafted root stock clone trees as well as non-grafted clones. Eli has a wealth of knowledge on avocado trees. He explained the soil types and what root stock is good for that soil. I thought the prices were really good! I picked up a Bacon on Miriam root stock and Carmen-Hass on Dusa root stock (good for root-rot resistance in clay).

Eli is a very knowledgeable friendly person. They have more than avocados. My brother and I went to Maddock nursery to look at avocados and purchased a couple. But they didn’t have a variety we wanted. I asked them if they could recommend another vendor. They told us about Subtropical / Eli. He had what we’re looking for as well as other fruit trees at great prices. So we ended up with more than we came for. Very happy.
