I had the pleasure of meeting Mark from Peters Crotons at a botanical show in Melbourne 2-years ago. He carried some rare and hard to locate Crotons, so I followed up at his greenhouses in Vero Beach last Spring. Due to COVID precautions in Spring 2019, Mark was very professional in scheduling me to come down at a time when a limited number of customers would be in his greenhouses. Although I have a background in Horticulture, I found the information that was provided regarding establishing recently purchased crotons and Cordylines very useful. Recommendations regarding watering, fertilizing and pruning were incorporated into a double sided handout. Mark also was very knowledgeable regarding the Latin names of the varieties and how the “knicknames” for the plants such as “Eleanor Roosevelt” were established. As a result of having a positive experience on the second trip to his greenhouses last summer I purchased 2 books from Dr. Brown that are out of print from Mark that were excellent. Last weekend I was in Ft. Pierce for a Backus Museum exhibit and on our way back we stopped by toward the end of the day unannounced. Mark was very friendly and after his customers received instructions on establishing their new plants he assisted me with purchasing some Bromeliads. I didn’t recall the wide selection of bromeliads last year , and now Mark even has a sample of the Bromeliads growing in a southern exposure outside the Greenhouses which is Florida’s hottest location. This was helpful to select plants that could tolerate Florida’s sun! Additionally he had all the plants identified with large markers with their Latin and genus names. Due to some recent cold weather in Florida, Mark thought several of the bromeliads I purchased may have been chilled slightly, which I did not recognize, it was minor. However, he explained that as new foliage develops the plants would remain healthy and he offered the plants at a discounted rate, essentially giving me an additional 3 for the five of 2 deal. I look forward to my next visit to Peters Crotons and appreciate knowing that Mark is receptive to talking with me even by phone if I have any questions or concerns about my plants in general.

There should be a zero-star option. Mark Peters is a fraud. I sent him payment for out-of-print Cordyline and Croton books that are listed on his website for $89 each, and when I sent him the check to pay for the books he only sent one of the books. I am now currently engaged in a false advertisement lawsuit to expose his shady business practices. He is NOT someone who should be considered reputable at all.You will pay Mark Peters.
