Visited today and left extremely disappointed. While on vacation, we made a special trip from Central Beach to Perfect Choice Nursery specifically because of their reputation for rare plants. I have followed and admired both Perfect Choice Nursery and Airoid Greenhouses for years and was excited to finally visit in person. Unfortunately, the experience did not meet expectations. Upon arrival, my mother-in-law asked a few questions and the employee assisting us came across as sarcastic and dismissive rather than helpful. While that alone was disappointing, the bigger issue was discovering that the greenhouse featured so prominently in Perfect Choice Nursery’s social media content was not accessible to visitors. After browsing the outdoor inventory, we attempted to enter the greenhouse only to find a sign stating it was not open to the public. We were then informed that Airoid Greenhouses is a separate business and not available for public access. I fully understand that Airoid Greenhouses operates as a wholesale business, and I was not expecting wholesale pricing or special treatment. However, I did expect that the plants and greenhouse spaces regularly featured in Perfect Choice Nursery’s marketing and Instagram posts would be part of the customer experience in some capacity. The lack of clarity regarding this distinction was frustrating, especially after driving a considerable distance specifically to see the rare aroids that attracted us in the first place. As a small business owner myself, I understand the differences between retail and wholesale operations. My disappointment is not that I couldn’t buy wholesale, but that the visit felt very different from what was presented online. I arrived excited to find a special plant and enjoy the experience. Instead, I left feeling frustrated and misled. Greater transparency about what is and is not accessible to retail customers would help set appropriate expectations and prevent others from making the trip expecting something different.
I had a terrible customer service experience last Sunday. I picked up a beautiful vase and the female at the cashier told me they could make an arrangement for me. She helped me pick four plants and everything seemed fine. All of the sudden a the male attendant comes in and tells me I need to buy more plants because the pot is too big. He was rude and condescending. I picked the extra plants and he tells me the attendant didn’t even know that I wanted an arrangement. In addition he waited until I picked the extra plants to tell me they were busy and couldn’t plant the plants on that day. During our conversation he used a series of rude remarks such as, “like I told you before, you don’t seem to understand ect”. Do not go to this place if you want good customer service. I also asked if they had two different types of plants. He said no and then I found them. Total disaster! Be careful if they don’t like your looks, they mistreat you.
