About the Nursery

Perennial and Ornamental Nursery. Top products: Herbaceous perennials, Ornamental grasses, Native plant cultivars, Wildflowers. Campo di Fiori is a specialty nursery and horticultural destination focused on herbaceous perennials, ornamental grasses, and select native cultivars. The business emphasizes plants chosen for their structural integrity, ecological hardiness, and long season of interest, catering to both design-oriented homeowners and professional gardeners interested in naturalistic planting aesthetics. Their operations include a working nursery where they propagate plants—including 'local selections' derived from regional stock—and maintain extensive demonstration gardens that serve as testing grounds for their plant selection. Their design philosophy integrates botanical science with artistic landscape architecture, often utilizing matrix-style planting techniques that mimic meadow and woodland ecosystems. Beyond retail sales, the business functions as an educational resource, offering guided tours and on-site demonstrations of how specific plant combinations perform in various soil types and light conditions, specifically focusing on plants that provide habitat for pollinators and local wildlife.

Been wanting to go for years, but I live in NYC. Finally this month my Maine visit coincided with Campo di fiori’s open hours. Such a peaceful, beautiful site with equally beautiful display gardens and just the selection of plants I was seeking. Native plants and other plants perfect for natural gardens that fit in with and support wildlife. I got two goats beards, a sedge, a burnett, and a masterwort. (Or Aruncus dioicus, Carex muskingumensis, Sanguisorba ‘Foxy’ (a Campo di fiori exclusive), and Astranta ‘Snowstar’) I loved this nursery and I highly recommend it!
