Recently hired H&W for some landscaping at our lake house and we are very happy with the results! Brandon and team did a great job with the design and installation. They took the time to get everything just right and it looks great. They installed rip-rap for shore stabilization, added ledge-stone steps, a ledge stone retaining wall, and some plantings. After-service has been very good as well, they came back after a couple of weeks to reseed the lawn as it wasn’t coming in very evenly. I would use them again for any hardscaping or landscaping work in the future, highly recommend them!

EDIT: I was contacted directly by Kathy Warner who came to check things out after this review. She said she'd look into their processes with screened materials to see if improvements could be made. She promised that the rocks would be removed, areas in need of re-seeding would be taken care of, and a fertilizer application would be applied. I was impressed by the quick responsiveness, the personalized experience, and the willingness to make things right. I look forward to working with them on some future projects. --------------------------------------------- In previous years I have gotten "screened" topsoil from here to level/grade certain areas of our lawn and also top-dress the lawn in the autumn months. The quality of the topsoil left a lot to be desired (I lost count of how many plastic forks/spoons I had to pull out of the pile, along with rocks and other items that should not have made it through the screening process). Last year I ordered compost to top-dress in the hopes that it would be of better quality than the supposedly screened topsoil. I ordered for Friday delivery but nobody showed...I called at the end of the day and they were kind enough to send a truck out first thing the next morning. Kudos for that bit of service. Unfortunately, now that Spring is approaching, the poor quality of the compost is revealing itself in the form of numerous rocks. Not just small bits of incidental gravel, but tons of rocks. It is going to be a nightmare for me to remove these before mowing and potentially having lawn mower blades damaged and/or flinging rocks around the yard like projectiles. An additional star for the kind willingness to correct an error in delivery, but 1 star for the poor quality of their bulk materials. I'd love to support a local, family-owned business but can't in good conscience recommend their topsoil or their compost unless they make changes to their screening processes. With how much it costs for delivery of bulk goods, the quality of these products is vastly overpriced.

Cannot speak highly enough of Brandon and the entire team at H & W. We purchased a historical home in Holland. Needless to say, it needed a great deal of tlc outside. Brandon was responsive, professional, and had fantastic ideas for teh layout of the new landscaping. He was prompt in creating a drawing, spent many hours with my wife and I picking out plants, flowers, stones and lights for the extensive project to come. They did not disappoint. The crews worked so hard, in brutal heat and one of the worst droughts Holland has seen. They never strayed from the original design, even when our 130 year old home decided to play by its own rules. The finished product is stunning and more importantly, time period specific. We couldn't be happier. We will continue to only use H&W. We have already referred them to multiple neighbors. The amount of compliments from people walking by as well as the appreciation from The Historical Society are only a few of the accolades they have received from their efforts. Thank you again so much for all of your efforts. The work is beautiful.
