My neighbor and I have been going to Keris for years. The shop has so many vintage ornaments and decorations. It is a truly magical and old world place. It is a family run farm and the owners and staff are so helpful and knowledgeable. It wouldn't be Christmas without a visit to Keris. Bring your camera. You will be inspired for the holidays.
Every year, I purchase a root-bound Christmas tree that I later plant in my yard. To do this successfully, I need specific tree varieties within a limited size range. Since my usual farm no longer offers this option, I contacted several farms in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Keris’s confirmed over the phone that they carried the tree varieties and size range I was looking for. Based on that information, I drove over an hour and a half to the farm. Upon arrival, the available selection did not match what I had been told. There were only two varieties of root-bound trees and only one size available, which was approximately 7 feet tall, despite being told that smaller (around 3-foot) root-bound trees were available. This created several issues. A tree of this size is too heavy for me to safely carry, which required removing soil from the root ball in order to transport it. Removing soil from a root-bound tree significantly reduces its chances of surviving after planting. As a result, I paid more for a larger tree that I am now unlikely to be able to successfully grow in my yard. Additionally, the larger size caused increased needle drop, required additional floor support to prevent damage, and made my usual tree base unusable. I had to purchase and modify a different container to serve as a base (do to the size difference). Had accurate information been provided upfront, this trip and these issues could have been avoided. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this farm. I would like to add this tree was placed in the same location that all past trees have been placed and watered with the same water in the same watering can. These trees are still alive today and growing in my yard. It’s a great way to keep a memory/moment alive and see it grow each year.
Our 33rd Keris tree! We love the farm and family. Beautiful, healthy trees. Walkable and not over-hyped. A sweet Christmas store with holiday ornaments, bows, wreaths and roping. We tag early and take our holiday picture then come back in Dec and cut our tree down. It’s a lovely tradition we plan to continue. 🎄❤️
Yeesh 😬 We got a Christmas tree here last year, already cut and everything, and it was amazing. It lasted until after Christmas and it was perfect. We got a tree THIS year on Sunday (December 10th) and it was considered an “orphan tree”. The guy who was talking to us about it said that it was (probably) cut the day before (Saturday) and they found it that morning (Sunday). I DOUBT that’s true because it’s only Wednesday and the tree is dropping needles like crazy. I would totally recommend searching for a tree here but I would just look carefully and maybe stay away from the orphan trees, unless its last minute and it’s way closer to Christmas, not 2 weeks before.
farm is very well maintained. beautiful trees however…first time i ever paid for a tree by the foot and my family has been going to the tree farm and cutting our own my whole life. $17.00 a foot. that is a bit astronomical. 8 ft tree cost $140.00. that’s crazy. the tree is nice but i’ve had better. will not be returning
