About the Nursery

Christmas Tree Farm. Top products: Christmas trees, Handmade wreaths. Split Rail Nursery and Tree Farm, located in Milton, NY, is a family-owned agricultural operation established in 1985 that specializes in the cultivation and sale of premium Christmas trees. The farm emphasizes traditional growing methods, with each tree groomed and trimmed by hand to ensure structural integrity, fullness, and optimal aesthetic shape. Serving local families and holiday shoppers in the Hudson Valley, the farm offers an immersive, seasonal experience where customers can select their own trees directly from the fields. Beyond their primary horticultural focus on evergreens, the business produces artisanal, handcrafted holiday wreaths decorated with natural elements such as pinecones, berries, and flowers. The farm also serves as a professional photography venue, utilizing its cultivated grounds to provide a seasonal backdrop. Operated by the Minard family, the business prioritizes local heritage, high-quality maintenance, and community engagement throughout the holiday season.

Came here in 2024 and got the best tree I've ever seen. 2025 I was excited to come back and when I did, the trees were nowhere near as good as the previous year. Even worse, the guy who tied it to my car screwed up bad enough that it fell off within 5 minutes, had to pull over and jam it into the trunk. Not to mention the actual process of buying a tree from this place is clearly inspired by the DMV. Get your tree from pretty much anywhere but Split Rail, don't waste your time and money.

This place has trees to cut on specified lots. It is is not you-cut location. You pick they cut. Due to that line to have your tree cut was very long. You pick your tree, take bottom part of price tag with you, pay, stand on line to have it cut by staff. Line was at least and hour long today. Trees were marked with price tags 100-200.

Was my first time buying a tree, it was fun and magically nostalgic. We'll definitely be back again!

This is a great place to get your tree from. Super friendly and helpful people and of course beautiful trees. we used to get our tree there every year, moved out west. Really miss Split Rail this time of year.

We love Split Rail! We go there every year for our Christmas tree. Will and Kendra have such a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Running any kind of a farm, yet alone a tree farm is a hard business. It's not like you put a fully grown tree in the ground and do nothing. There's 5-7+ years of work that goes in to each and every tree. We appreciate that work and don't mind helping out a local business that puts that kind of time and energy in to such a fabulous product. We have never left disappointed! P.S. - going to a tree farm and cutting down your own tree is a great way to help the environment!
