Twenty years ago, I purchased two Quick Fire hydrangeas from Bates, and they are still one of my favorite parts of my yard. Every summer they put on a spectacular display of beautiful blooms, and they have exceeded every expectation I had. They were worth every penny.
What I remember most is how patient and knowledgeable the staff were. They took the time to help me choose the right plants for my home instead of just making a sale, and that guidance has made all the difference. Two decades later, I’m still enjoying those hydrangeas and am grateful for their expertise.
If you’re looking for quality plants and people who truly care about helping you succeed, I can’t recommend Bates highly enough.

Excellent perennial plant collection including native species. Reasonably priced and impressively knowledgeable perennial plant staff and buyer. We always find fresh rotating inventory with varied variety/cultivar selections. The ability to purchase during a Holiday on-line and at sale prices was wonderful. Thank you.

We are so lucky this legendary nursery is so close. From flowering shrubs to trees and from a plethora of flowers, ornamentals, and herbs to a variety of compost, they always have a great seasonal selection, plenty of knowledgable staff on hand, and offer sustainable options at a decent value. Their newsletter is also relevant and they don’t clutter your inbox. Highly recommend if you haven’t been here already!
