I adore this nursery. I live very close by, so I will often pop in just to walk around and be surrounded by their extensive collection of indoor and outdoor plants, and to get inspired for my next purchase! Twice now, I have come across plants on Pinterest that I add to my wish list, and both times this store has had exactly what I'm looking for. I can count on them for anything, and the staff have always been incredibly friendly!

As a customer, you MUST do your research and know what to look for and inspect your nursery trees. I didn't know what to look for when I bought this japanese maple from the West Seattle Nursey. But, I've since learned that nursery trees have common problems, such as being burried too deep in nursery pots, and being over fertilized to appear larger. I got this tree that was buried too deep in its nursery pot for a while. Unfortunately I was too excited, and naive when I got it home in early March and I potted the tree in a soil/medium pine and fir bark mixture. But this scar was facing a direction that I never look at the tree from. I cut the high roots, but I totally missed the scar by not inspecting the trunk all the way around, and facing it away from view. Unfortunately the tree was blown over during a windy day in early May. I stood it back up within about 30 minutes and tied it up, but it succumbed to transplant shock from the exposed roots. I recently moved it, from the sunny spot it was in, to a shadier spot to recover. In the new spot the scar is visible from the path it's by, and I noticed it but, unfortunately, now I'm 14 days past the 90 day 50% refund window for trees that don't do well. The scar from rotten bark and roots sprouting high up the trunk make it obvious the tree was buried too deep for more than the 3 months I had the tree, but they won't do a 50% refund past the hard 90 day cut off. I wish the store would inspect these trees before they leave the store. I guess I'll just try to let the tree recover from the shock, but it will be a hard life for it with half the bark gone. The cambium layer of the tree under the bark is what gets the the root juice from the leaves down to the roots to grow. It will be a struggle for this tree :( I should not have spent 200$ on a tree with such an obvious problem, in hindsight. And I should have inspected it when I got it home.

They have a fantastic selection of plants and containers! Plus, they offer perennials and annuals in small pots. The staff is also very helpful.
