My mom has a small pond in her yard lacking plants. After some research, I realized quickly that this is one of the few places left in SLO county that has pond plants. First of all, the grounds are ABUNDANT! I could have spent a lot more time shopping. I really look forward to visiting again just to scope stuff out. Second, the owner is very friendly and accommodating. She sold me a water lilly before she'd potted them because I was willing to do it myself. Finally, the prices can't be beat. I was pleasantly surprised when I checked out. This place is so worth the trip from SLO or even farther south. Santa Margarita is darling, and you should visit for this nursery plus so much more.

A specialty nursery with a special owner running the place. Not to be missed!
If you are in Santa Margarita, this well cared for, somewhat eclectic, nursery is worth a visit. Home to one of the largest grape vines I have ever seen, the owner has stocked the grounds with all kinds of interesting plants - be sure to explore all the well hidden corners for interesting finds. The owner is a wealth of knowledge, not only of the product she sells, but of the local history.
My favorite nursery in California... Lovely variety and a true garden. Let's you see what natural beauty looks like.
The Educated Gardener has been the spot I take my kids to experience an outdoor place with beautiful ponds, funny chickens and singing canaries. Every corner has a new discovery for them. My mom loved to stop by after visiting and bought new plants, or a piece of Mexican pottery. I would suggest having regular classes on weekends to spread the knowledge. Wildflower identification class?
