Wow, just great!!! I was actually referred to here by a different nursery in Marina Del Ray that didn’t have the plants I was looking for. I was thrilled with what I found here they had everything I Wanted. The staff was super super helpful and it was easy to find exactly what I wanted in the rows . I accidentally cut my hand on one of the thorns and they were so nice. They gave me tissues, antibiotic spray, and Band-Aids. They were very nice and genuinely Concerned🙏

Been to Yamaguchi Bonsai Nursery a few times and a few other times because the Annual California Bonsai Society Sale is held there. Each time I feel like every employee from upper level to gardener would rather be anywhere else and certainly have a rude edge to them. Have purchased a few items with not much direction other than, "yeah, those plants should work in your area". Then upon all dying and asking the manager for help, she said, "surprised you got that advice, we have no way of knowing your area". I said, "the public expects a professional nursery to know a bit more than just searching the internet, it's not the large home center's we're shopping at". No apologies for the $200 that was smoked. I even looked around and found the place really has not been kept up. So unorganized. Even asked about replacing the dead one's I lost for new one's. All I got was, "we don't have any in"......"Do you know when you might get more?"......"No. You can place an order if you want". Just dry, no personal interaction. Just annoyed they had to be there. Even asked prices for some of the bonsai trees, since half aren't priced. They had to go looking through a book that didn't even give them what they needed so they had to call the owner. Then came the "I don't really want to sell it prices" on a few things I asked about, $4,500!!! WHAT!! Even a few starter junipers were $200-300. Way overpriced! Been to many, many bonsai locations and these are not in that realm of quality and certainly not commanding of those prices. Looks like my Yamaguchi day's are over.

This is a cute nursery, and the staff is usually helpful and friendly. But recently this older Caucasian lady was in a very bad mood, no smile, no hello and snapped at me when I asked a simple question. I noticed she very friendly and helpful to non-Asian customers, another time I was there. The owner needs to have a talk with this person; she should not be working at a Japanese nursery if she is going to be rude to Asian people. Racism is not cool and unacceptable!

Yamaguchi is a family own small business with nice and honest employers. I come here a lot and got a lot of help on how to taking care of the plants and bonsai. Their employers are very honest and never try to sell me anything I don't need. They even gave me advice on making the decision of spending money on expensive bonsai tools which I appreciated a lot. The owner is very knowledgeable about plants and her pre-bonsai plant collection is from good sources. Even if the price of some items are a bit higher than Amazon, I still buy them and support the local business. They also have bonsai class for beginners and advanced.
