Good prices friendly staff

I stopped in to grab a few plants, plant care items, and a cocoa fiber planter. Except I didn’t want the hook to hang the planter because it wasn’t need for the fairy garden I was creating. The owner comes to check me out and notices I don’t have the hook. He goes to grab the hook for me and as he hands it to me. I make him aware I don’t need it. He says, I don’t care…at first I’m taken back but okay just add it with the items. Then he proceeds to say, I’ll hang you…right in the middle of the room here. He begins to laugh and I awkwardly reply, I’d prefer to not be hung from the ceiling. He laughs again and says, no you don’t want to be hung in here? As a black women in the establishment of a white man, I immediately felt uncomfortable. I will not be returning to Dolins Garden Center, this was the most uncomfortable encounter to have while trying to shop at a small business. I was just trying to support the local garden center. If you are a person of color, you may not want to shop here.

I highly recommend Dolins Garden Center. Their prices are good, the selection always look healthy, and there is usually a surprise or two in what you'll see there. It's a joy to walk around their displays, enjoying the different varieties they offer. Andre has so much knowledge that he is eager to share with anyone who will listen - and it's knowledge he's learned from personal practice. He is very patient and no question is treated as too small. I usually seek him out, but everyone there loves what they do and are always ready with excellent and friendly advice. Dolins is one of those hidden gems in St. Petersburg. You'll be glad you visited.

I recently visited Dolins Garden Center and had a great experience. The selection of plants, flowers, and garden supplies was impressive, and everything looked healthy and well cared for. It’s clear the staff takes pride in maintaining the nursery. The employees were friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to answer questions about plant care and landscaping ideas. The atmosphere was peaceful and enjoyable to walk through, with a wide variety of plants for both beginners and experienced gardeners. Overall, Dolins Garden Center is a wonderful local place for gardening needs, with quality plants and excellent customer service. I’ll definitely be back again.
