About the Nursery

Native Florida Plant Nursery. Top products: Milkweed varieties, Passionflowers, Native shrubs and trees, Aquatic plants, Pollinator-friendly perennials. Little Red Wagon Native Nursery, located in Tampa, Florida, is a specialized nursery dedicated to the propagation and sale of native Florida flora. Operated in conjunction with the Tampa Bay Butterfly Foundation, the nursery functions as both a retail plant shop and a living educational exhibit. Their primary mission is to promote the use of native plants to support local biodiversity, specifically focusing on host plants for pollinators like butterflies and birds. Their extensive inventory includes a wide variety of milkweed species, passionvines, ornamental grasses, ground covers, and shrubs, all categorized by habitat suitability such as 'Fun in the Sun' or 'Chillin' in the Shade.' The business serves as a resource for homeowners and conservation-minded gardeners looking to restore or enhance native landscapes. In addition to plant sales, they offer educational outreach, including children’s nature camps, and operate a facility that combines retail operations with conservation-focused public education.

Talk about service. Yes, small place by comparison to other largebox stores. BUT that where it gets good!. Attention, knowledge, service, and above all the uniqueness of having such great varieties of plants tgat are not common/rare or even not available at all.at other nurseries is what makes this place special. Lots of hard to find but beautiful NATIVE plants that it wonderful to visit. Yes ,i purchased quite a bit.

I absolutely love the Red Wagon nursery. I have very diligently converted my side yard/alleyway and back yard into Florida-native/grassless ecosystems, and the Red Wagon staff have been a huge part of my education and gardening! Their staff are extremely helpful and knowledgable, helping you understand what environmental conditions are needed for each type of plant. Most recent, I purchased several swamp milkweed, blue flag iris, and some others for the side of my house. They’ve already attracted a host of monarchs, zebra butterflies, and other pollinators!
