About the Nursery

Japanese Horticultural Supplies Nursery. Top products: Bonsai trees, Tillandsia (air plants), Japanese garden tools, Ikebana supplies, Tabletop gardens. Hanayagi the Japanese Garden Shop, established in 1986, operates as a specialized horticultural and lifestyle retailer focused on Japanese garden aesthetics. The business serves homeowners and design enthusiasts by providing a curated selection of living plants, including bonsai specimens, air plants (Tillandsia), and miniature tabletop gardens. Beyond plant sales, the shop functions as a center for Japanese garden education, offering professional instruction in the Ichiyo school of Ikebana, the traditional art of Japanese flower arranging. Their inventory includes high-quality, artisan-crafted garden tools sourced from Japan and Europe, alongside Ikebana-specific containers, materials, and supplies. While they offer broader home decor, textiles, and Asian artifacts, their horticultural core is anchored in the maintenance and artistic expression of bonsai and floral design. The business distinguishes itself through its commitment to traditional craftsmanship and specialized education for those seeking to integrate Japanese gardening techniques into their personal environments.

For years I wanted to stop by this store but finally had the chance today. The woman who “greeted” me was very rude, looked me up and down when I entered and made my mom and I feel unwelcomed.
