Go Native Tree Farm

This place is like a hidden gem more people should be aware of if they are looking for treees. I ordered a large quantity of a variety of trees from them for a school tree palnting. They are so healthy looking. While I know eastern red buds have heart shaped leaves, in this case, I believe their leaves are EXTRA heart shaped from all the love they are raised with. The owners are friendly, responsive, and passionate about growing and selling some pretty beautiful looking young trees. This is a small business with a large amount of knowledge about what they are doing. Please consider them when looking for trees to plant . Reasonable prices and lots of varieties to choose from.

I found GNTF by accident a couple years ago while looking up nurseries to source hickories from. I discovered the natural beauty of the trees on a vacation a couple years ago and decided I wanted to have one for my yard. While doing the research on hickory trees through Google, I was linked to an excellent article GNTF had written about the challenges surrounding hickory propagation - and just as importantly - the fact that they also sold and shipped many hickory varieties. The article also explained my difficulty in locating any local nurseries who sold hickories. I decided to make the 12-hour round trip to drive to the farm and pick up some unique shellbark hickory trees (too large to ship) last weekend. John at the farm is very knowledgeable and loves to share his expertise. The process he has developed over the last 10-15 years for hickory relocation is unique and he stressed that attention to detail is essential for successful transplants. Aside from my recent visit to the farm, I had previously placed an electronic order from them. The order was shipped in the planting window they specified when I placed the order, and the 2-year old tree has been doing well. Unfortunately, one of the two hickories I planted using their methods died about a month after it leafed out. I contacted GNTF several times as soon as I started to notice it wasn't doing well to see if anything could be done to save it, but they never responded. Several emails later (after it had totally died) they did respond with "sometimes they just don't make it" which isn't very reassuring. I asked if I could get put on the list for a smaller (able to be shipped) replacement but they ignored it. I'm glad at least one of the hickories is still doing OK, but I think I'm done working with this nursery. It's a shame, too, because the arborist is a nice guy who knows his stuff.

John had various plants native to the east coast. Some seedlings from Virginia and Tennessee in pots. I was blessed that he returned my phone call the second time. He's very social and talkative.

Have purchased numerous trees from Go Native over the years and I have been satisfied each time. The owner is very friendly and knowledgeable. Great small business that really tries their best to propogate a large variety of native trees.
