Had a great experience plant shopping at Thompson + Hansen today. Nick was especially awesome and helped me pick a great plant & pot, and even planted it for me before I left! Plus super cute gift wrapping for the orchid I purchased.

I have been to Tiny Boxwoods multiple times and have generally enjoyed my experiences, which is why this visit was particularly disappointing. We arrived during a heavy downpour on June 6 around noon and were told there would be a wait for a table. The host kindly informed us that while we waited, we could sit at any of the tables that were not currently being used and order a drink from the bar. After purchasing drinks, we sat down as instructed. Given how hard it was raining, we appreciated being allowed to wait under cover. However, within minutes, a staff member wearing a Thompson + Hanson green shirt approached us and told us that we could not place our drinks on the table because they could leave water marks or imprints on furniture that was for sale. The way this was communicated came across as rude, dismissive, and unwelcoming. What made the situation especially confusing was that the tables already had visible water marks and rings, and several plant pots on display were actively dripping water onto the same furniture due to the rain. We also observed other guests placing drinks on similar tables without being approached or corrected. Because of this, the interaction felt inconsistent and selective. As a customer who has visited Tiny Boxwoods many times, I left feeling singled out and unwelcome. It is difficult not to question whether assumptions were being made about who was and was not considered an acceptable customer. Whether intentional or not, that was the impression the interaction created. For management's reference, the employee involved was an older Caucasian gentleman, approximately in his 60s, wearing a Thompson + Hanson green shirt and working around 12:00 PM on June 6. I have attached photos showing how heavily it was raining that day, the area where we were waiting, and the manner in which we were ultimately told to place our drinks. The photos also show the existing water exposure and markings on the furniture that we were told needed to be protected from our drinks. A restaurant's hospitality is often measured by how guests are treated during inconvenient situations. On this occasion, despite being a repeat customer and following the instructions we had been given, I did not feel welcomed. I hope management reviews this interaction and provides additional training on customer service, consistency, and respectful communication. Unfortunately, this experience left a negative impression that overshadowed what has otherwise been a restaurant I have enjoyed visiting over the years.

The plant selection is pretty basic, nothing worth coming out for. The plants look healthy but over priced. It feels like they don't really have an identity as a store besides being very expensive. If you're looking for plants I would say go somewhere else. They have some niche giant pots and women's clothes if you're into that I guess.

They’ve got this brilliant rule — no photos with a camera. I’m literally there with my wife, just buying a few plants for our home, the place looks nice, I take a quick photo… and suddenly a man emerges from under a rock to inform me I need a booking to take pictures. With my tiny, not-even-professional camera. Absolutely genius. No many parking slots. Overpriced.
