About the Nursery

Native Plant Propagation Nursery. Top products: Local-ecotype native trees, Local-ecotype native shrubs, Native perennials, Native herbaceous plants. Founded in 1997, Earth Sangha is a nonprofit organization based in Springfield, Virginia, operating the Wild Plant Nursery, which serves as the premier source for local-ecotype native plants in the Washington, DC region. Their nursery operations focus exclusively on propagating plants from wild, naturally occurring local populations to ensure they are perfectly adapted to the local environment and support regional pollinators and wildlife. The nursery utilizes a volunteer-driven model to collect seeds sustainably from local forests and meadows, followed by specialized propagation at their facility. Beyond retail and supply, the organization maintains a strong ecological mission, providing plant grants to restoration projects and conducting forest, wetland, and meadow restoration services. They cater to a diverse clientele, including homeowners, local government, nonprofit partners, and environmental stakeholders interested in supporting biodiversity and regional ecological health through the use of strictly native, locally-sourced flora.

One of the BEST native plant nurseries I have bought plants from. They had ALL the natives we were looking for to plant in our Master Gardener demonstration garden showing the public a Prairie Strip pollinator ecosystem service garden. We be will be back for more!!!

Very knowledgeable staff and they volunteer their expertise to customers. For example, when I went to purchase several different plants, they suggested that I put one of them back because it didn't look quite ready to be purchased and planted. Great selection of native plants, too! Definitely worth the trip around the beltway to support our natural habitat.
