I bought a young (thin 6-7 foot high) Yoshino Cherry tree. Today I went out and noticed the bark had been stripped down and a small branch had been broken. 1. What is trying to eat my tree? 2. How can I stop it? 3. Can I save the tree?

Sounds like it might be a deer rubbing up on the tree. You might want to put a fence around the tree or you can try a sleeve for the trunk. If you do the fence, leave plenty of room so the deer are not able to reach over the fence and nibble. If you do a sleeve, check it from time to time to ensure that critters are not nesting in between the sleeve and the tree trunk.

On June 20, 2026 Earth Art Garden delivered and planted some more beautiful trees on our property and we had ask them to help us with a project and they did another fantastic job. Three time customer buying maple trees. I highly recommend this place. I was in last week buying 4 maple trees, each one about 12’ to 15’ tall. The workers went above and beyond taking incredible care to wrap up all of the trees with my protective cloth tarps for the trip home. This totals 9 maples I’ve purchased here, all in the last 3 years. They’re all thriving and healthy.

Bought a tri-colored beech from the boys that work there. They have a better selection than any other nursery. The are courteous, knowledgeable, and very helpful. The tree is doing well in my yard.
