Old House Gardens - Heirloom Bulbs is a specialized horticultural nursery based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, dedicated to the preservation and distribution of historic and heirloom flower bulbs. Founded in 1993, the company focuses on rare and historically significant plant varieties that are often difficult to source through mainstream gardening channels. Their extensive catalog includes a wide range of spring, summer, and fall-planted bulbs, such as classic daffodils, tulips, lilies, peonies, dahlias, and irises. The business operates primarily as a specialized retail supplier, serving a nationwide customer base of avid gardeners, horticultural enthusiasts, and historical preservationists. They emphasize the biological and aesthetic 'virtues' of heirlooms, promoting varieties with long histories, unique characteristics, and proven resilience. Beyond retail sales, the company serves as an educational resource, providing extensive care guides, articles, and historical context for each plant variety to ensure customer success in garden cultivation.

I purchased some Princess Irene tulips from here and from some other bulk site to compare. The ones from Old House Gardens not only bloomed a week earlier and are almost twice the height as the others, but each bulb produced at least 2 blooms! One even has 4! I also bought 2 peonies that are already a good size for being in their first year. I'm definitely shopping here again!

Regular customer at old house gardens. Bought lucky star gladiolus that I planted in a pot and they rotted. Owner would not work with me in refunding any of my money even though their website states guarantee. She told me no guarantee for bulbs grown in pots. It is not written anywhere. I have grown abyssinian gladiolus for over 1o years in pots. Buyer beware

Im so excited to see so many daffodils come up this spring from my 2023 plantings. I’ll add photos once they bloom. Lots coming up and I ordered several stunning varieties from them. 3-29-24 I have blooms galore from my Fall 2023 plantings. I just love checking the garden each day to see what’s going to bloom next.

Highly recommended. Their bulbs are always high quality, well worth the price (I've tried various other mail-order bulb stores, and OHG is far superior). The bulbs always arrive well packed and healthy, and with detailed, useful planting information. I've had their tulips for several years now and they rebloom beautifully, year in and year out: heirlooms are definitely more robust than modern tulips! Their lilies are also spectacular. And I love that they are preserving beautiful, historic heirloom varieties. It makes for a garden that is both beautiful and interesting.
