About the Nursery

Native and Edible Plant Nursery. Top products: PNW Native Plants, Vegetable Starts, Seed Potatoes, Flowering Bulbs, Heirloom Vegetable Seeds. East Portland Plant Buying Club operates as a community-focused horticultural nursery and plant supplier located in Portland, Oregon. The business specializes in the distribution of Pacific Northwest native plants, a diverse selection of edible vegetable starts, and heirloom seeds. Their inventory includes specialized categories such as regional native meadow collections, European, Mexican, and Pacific Rim vegetable varieties, perennial vegetables, and saffron corms. The business model combines retail plant sales with an educational community membership program, offering members access to propagation workshops, gardening mentorship, and discounts on nursery stock. Customers, ranging from local gardeners to small-scale growers, can purchase plants and seeds online for scheduled pickup at the nursery or browse during designated open garden days. By focusing on site-appropriate native flora and diverse food-producing crops, the club functions as both a supplier of specialized horticultural stock and a resource center for regional gardening practices.

I’ve bought garlic, shallots, saffron, snowberry, mock orange, and salmonberries through the East Portland Plant Buying Club over multiple seasons—and everything has thrived! Great prices, a thoughtful selection, easy pickup, and kind, responsive communication. A true community gem for gardeners!

This is such a fun way to buy plants in my community. I’ve purchased several bulbs, including saffron crocus. We grew them in a pot on my front porch and my kid helped me harvest the saffron threads, which were delicious in a special dish.
