The owners reaponse is 100% ignorant. They do know what they're doing, we both live in Portland and shop for plants here. Don't be intentionally ignorant, I will no longer shop at either location. Detailed pricing comparison at the end of the review. Absolute joke for their pricing. Just about everything they have is 50% more expensive than at other stores. The only saving grace is their light selection. They have good lights that don't break the bank, however the pricing on the lights are 20%-50% over retail. Skip it, go to symbiop, the portland nursery, or hammer + vine if you want good plants and don't want to pay extra for plants from the same nurseries as every other plant store in Portland. Genuinely, you're better off ordering plants online. You could order 4 of the same plants for the price of one from here. Example, they sell pings (butterworts) for $40 a piece. The exact same species and cultivars are available online for ~$10. Stop ripping off locals who are trying to support local businesses. Edit: I have seen several examples that directly prove this issue. The barrina grow lights you sell for $50 are $20 online. Odora Batik (in your rare plant case for $50) is a $15 plant at the local ace hardware. I have seen $100+ snake plants in your shop that are available at portland nursery (yes, same species and similar size, I took a photo because I couldn't believe your pricing) that portland nursery sells for $30. The sansi lightbulbs you have photos of are not the ones actually on the shelf (infuriating to figure out after the fact), and charge ~50% more for every single bulb than I would shopping online. We both know you're overpricing your products to hit those less willing to do research or are less familiar with pricing here and it is shameful for you to defend. Take the L and stop acting like you're not doing this intentionally.

I discovered this place earlier this year on a recommendation, and boy am I glad I did! Adorable little shop filled to the brim with all sorts of plants, both common and rare. The prices are extremely reasonable, and they fit a LOT of variety into a fairly cozy retail space. You should come for the plants, but definitely stay for the people; The employees are exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable, and Paige and Zoe have personally helped me out with any number of silly questions as I’ve gotten further into my houseplant journey. As someone who has a lot of questions, their patience is so appreciated, and their recommendations have really helped me out. Ella is great too, and had some great soil recommendations for a propagation project I’m working on. This place is fantastic, and if they don’t have what I’m looking for, they’re usually happy to help me track it down (shout out to Paige for hunting down a fabulous Scindapsus Moonlight for my friend, and a great looking Callisia for me!). If you’re looking for a spot to pick up some cool plants, or restock on some supplies, or buy some cute pots, Plants on Broadway is absolutely worth the trip.

Amazing plant selection with a good mix of easy to difficult care, and common, exotic and rare selections! The staff are always super helpful and informative too, which makes Plants on Broadway one of my favorite plant shops in Portland! 💚

If you want to take home a container of bugs, definitely shop here. It was my first time shopping here as I was looking for something specific. The place felt dirty and unkept but I just chalked it up to being a store with dirt in it. Well, I was wrong and I should have been wary. Never again. The people working weren’t all that friendly, they never greeted us or said a word to us until we asked a question, they were pretty involved in personal conversation to worry about any kind of customer service. All around it was a bad experience and I can’t and won’t recommend this place to anyone. There are so many places to buy houseplants in Portland and this should not one of them. Poor quality and pest-ridden plants was my experience.
